    Maybe a stupid question from a beginners/intermediates perspective: why are the blue notes not addressed here at all... as its blues we talk about, right?

    • @Wallimann
      @Wallimann 3 години тому

      Just because they don’t fit the logic of using notes within the chords. The blue notes are very much outside adding a lot of tension (which is cool too!)

    I saw Santana live in in Seattle in 93. He played some shred stuff that was comparable to yngwie Malmsteen and Vai and I was blown away. So Santana does have the skill and capability but he knows what type of playing fits a good song and knows the song is more important than his shred abilities.

  • @timzitzelsberger3200

    Santana has soul feel and one of the greatest tones ever unlike many shredder guitarists that are good at one thing and that is technique technique is just a part of music technique can be musical yet they aren't getting the whole picture David Gilmore Jeff. Beck Robin thrower Rory Gary Moore bb king Joe Walsh Jimmy page all fit in where they lack in technique they shine with artistic emotion something you absolutely can't learn from Berkeley or git

    The respect for Eric Clapton was based on the same subtle techniques as Billy Gibbons used. Tom Dowd, producer of Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs said it best, "Eric always takes off on his solos but he always comes back to finish the song on the correct measure. And, he always completes his musical idea simultaneously at the solo break or finish of the song."

    Hi ive been playing music since i was 8 im 47 now, a qualified classical guitar teacher now and i play electric guitar also. Ive been in and out of depression most of my life and I quit teaching a few years ago. Im broke, I dont advertise my skills on the internet, i play the very occasional wedding for friends and I've made a bunch of recordings that i give only to people who know me. I started going to church just this year for the first time in my life I think it was because of all the dystopian madness going on in the world. Anyway enough about me, do whatever makes you feel good brother, bless you. 🙌

    Hi hope you are well. I get the visualisation diagram but is it really necessary? why reinvent the wheel? Intervals between notes are easy to understand on any musical instrument. How notes sound when played together and emotions invoked depends on the player or listener doesn't it? There are no rules or restrictions this is the magic and mystery. Just play anything.

    Even xyz shape lesson with no tmusical heory approach is way better than tjis way lees comfusimg and instant understanimg. Example mixolydian scale start on ST6 fr3 Play 3 dots 357 654 strings The note 5strimg 5th fret is the middle dorean How bloody simple is that for anybody looking at the guitar can play all degrees of major scale just using the dots as a skeleton which then can be used to explain complex chords 11 13 etc

  • @MrPaul8870
    @MrPaul8870 4 дні тому

    What total pants have nobody showed you clock faces before or explained the god and the devil yet ? How bloody stupid the DNA sheet is It doesn't show how or why of explanation at least in clock faces where if you start any scale on 12 and go round you can see clearly. For example dorian mode is equal forward as it is backwards 12 2 3 5 7 9 10 is shown This is why dorean is neither sad or happy but mediant of the 7 tones. It's easy working on You will see that phygian scale is in fact Ionian backwards which most do not even know even though it's in plain simple sight if you use the right technique. Unfortunately this DNA is pants And if nobody knows that a tone in music is called tonality equality then I would ask them to quit learning or start again surely

    I watched it and still have no idea what he is talking about. How does the first symmetrical pattern maps to the scale pattern shown on the fretboard?

    • @Wallimann
      @Wallimann 5 днів тому

      The symmetrical pattern is a visual representation of all possible intervals.

    • @foljs5858
      @foljs5858 5 днів тому

      @@Wallimann But what specific intervals are these? I can tell which intervals are in the fretboard pattern later: it's a scale, it shows the root, it's movable, and so on. There are what though? What does "all possible intervals means"? All possible intervals in a scale? In all scales? Would it be the same if created a pattern with 6 x 24 dots -- all possible intervals in the guitar, all notes on the fretboard!

    • @foljs5858
      @foljs5858 4 дні тому

      @@Wallimann ok, I got it: it's not supossed to be a shape or be applied on the fretboard (where the intervals are different between strings) - that was what confused me. It's supposed to just be a diagram of various intervals and whether they can have major, minor, augment, etc flavors. It's drawn looking somewhat like a scale shape or something mapping to the fretboard directly, but it just as well could have been a table with rows and columns.

    Interesting testing about Satriani - he came out of the Lennie Triatano school which is mega metronome. It’s interesting what you say. It took me a long time to learn to play behind the beat which is important for jazz, but I started as a blues head. Maybe this is why.
